The Artist
Born on 1 August 1975 in Margherita, she was known from childhood for her gentle nature, simplicity, and cheerful spirit. She had a deep love for art and culture, especially music, poetry, storytelling, and drawing, which became an important part of her life from an early age. After completing her graduation from Margherita College, she married Shri Santonu Borthakur on 3 March 2001 and gracefully balanced family life with her creative passions. Despite her responsibilities, she continued writing songs, poems, and short stories, while also composing melodies for her own musical works.
Her dedication to music led her to formal musical training in 2009, and throughout her life she composed seventeen songs. Her audio albums “Kuwali Fali” and “Snigdha Junak” remain cherished contributions to Assamese music and culture.
She actively participated in cultural programs and was admired for her love and promotion of Assamese traditions. On 26 July 2017, she passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind beautiful memories, meaningful creations, and an enduring legacy of creativity, kindness, and cultural devotion.
