BIOGRAPHY-A Life Devoted to Creativity, Culture, and Grace
Born on 1 August 1975 in the beautiful and historic town of Margherita, she was the beloved daughter of Late Krishna Kumar Chakraborty. From the very beginning of her life, she was known for her gentle nature, simplicity, kindness, and ever-smiling personality. Her warmth and humility touched the hearts of everyone around her, and she carried within herself a rare ability to spread joy and comfort wherever she went. Her childhood was filled with curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for art and culture. From an early age, she showed a special love for singing, poetry writing, storytelling, and drawing. These were not merely interests or pastimes for her; they were heartfelt expressions of her emotions, imagination, and sensitive soul. Her deep connection with Assamese culture and literature became an inseparable part of her identity and continued to grow stronger throughout her life. She completed her education with dedication and grace, eventually graduating from college before beginning a new chapter in her life. On 3 March 2001, she married Shri Santonu Borthakur, the eldest son of Late Birendra Nath Borthakur of Rangpuria, Tinsukia. Their marriage was built upon love, understanding, mutual respect, and strong family values. As a devoted wife and family member, she embraced her responsibilities with sincerity and care, always placing the happiness and well-being of her loved ones close to her heart. Even while managing the many duties of family life, she never allowed her creative spirit to fade away. Her passion for music and literature remained alive within her, and she continued to nurture her artistic talents with quiet dedication. She wrote songs, poems, and short stories, often pouring her emotions and experiences into her creations. What made her work even more special was her ability to compose melodies for her own songs, giving voice and life to the feelings she carried within her heart.
Her love for music became even more meaningful when she began formal musical training in 2009. This step reflected not only her dedication to learning but also her deep respect for the art form she loved so dearly. Through patience, hard work, and devotion, she continued to grow as a creative artist and cultural personality. During her lifetime, she composed a total of seventeen songs, each carrying her emotions, imagination, and deep love for Assamese music. Her songs reflected simplicity, beauty, and emotional depth, leaving a lasting impression on listeners. Among her most cherished musical works are the audio albums “Kuwali Fali” and “Snigdha Junak,” both of which remain valuable contributions to Assamese cultural music.
The album “Kuwali Fali” included memorable songs such as “Dekhisu Aji” (Duet), “Urunga,” “Gam Kinu Aji,” “Kio Baru,” “Meghor Madob,” “Kuwali Fali,” and “Mayabi.” Through these songs, she beautifully expressed emotions, dreams, and the gentle essence of life. Her second album, “Snigdha Junak,” featured songs like “Mur Sutalote,” “Bhal Lage,” and “Ratir Bahi,” continuing her heartfelt journey through music and artistic expression.
Apart from her musical creations, she remained actively involved in various cultural and creative activities throughout her life. She participated in numerous cultural programs and was admired for presenting graceful Assamese cultural performances. Her dedication to preserving and celebrating Assamese traditions reflected her deep attachment to her roots, language, and heritage. Through her work and participation, she inspired many people around her and earned respect as a sincere lover of art and culture. On 26 July 2017, she departed from this world unexpectedly, leaving behind an irreplaceable emptiness in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who knew her. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, the memories she created continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched. Her songs, writings, kindness, and beautiful spirit still remain alive through the love and admiration of those who remember her.
She will always be remembered as a gentle soul, a loving family person, a gifted cultural personality, and a woman who devoted her life to creativity, music, and compassion. Her journey was one of grace, dedication, and quiet strength, and her legacy continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
