Snigdha Borthakur’s Memorial Trust

A Special Initiative Based on Her Words

The Snigdha Borthakur Memorial Trust was established to honor the beautiful memories, creativity, and cultural spirit of Shraddha. Though her life was unexpectedly cut short, her songs, writings, melodies, and artistic dreams continue to inspire hearts even today.

This trust is a humble effort to preserve her legacy and celebrate the values she deeply cherished — music, art, culture, and creativity. Through this initiative, her love for artistic expression will continue to live on, touching the hearts of people and inspiring future generations.

Shraddha may no longer be physically among us, but through her creations and memories, her presence will always remain alive.

Main Objectives of the Snigdha Borthakur Memorial Trust

The Snigdha Borthakur Memorial Trust was founded with the heartfelt vision of preserving, promoting, and encouraging the rich cultural heritage of Assamese music among the younger generation. The trust aims to inspire children and young people to develop a deeper appreciation for both traditional Assamese folk music and modern Assamese songs, keeping alive the beauty and essence of our cultural roots. One of the primary objectives of the trust is to provide a meaningful platform where young talents can express themselves through music, creativity, and cultural participation. Through this initiative, the trust hopes to nurture confidence, artistic passion, and respect for Assamese musical traditions among aspiring singers and artists. To carry forward this vision, the trust has been organizing annual musical competitions every year on 26 July in loving memory of Snigdha Borthakur. As its first initiative, on 26 July 2018, a competition based on modern Assamese songs was successfully organized among children and adolescents from different areas of Tinsukia district. The event encouraged many young participants to showcase their talent and connect with Assamese music in a meaningful way.

Looking ahead, the trust aspires to expand these cultural activities across different parts of Assam by including competitions dedicated to both Assamese folk songs and modern music. The aim is not only to discover young talent but also to create a stronger cultural connection among the younger generation. In addition to competitions, the trust also plans to organize workshops, interactive sessions, and discussions with experienced and respected artists from various parts of Assam. These programs are intended to provide guidance, inspiration, and learning opportunities for young music enthusiasts while helping preserve the richness of Assamese musical culture.

Above all, the trust seeks to continue the creative spirit, love for music, and cultural dedication that Snigdha Borthakur carried throughout her life. Through collective support, encouragement, and participation, the trust hopes to build a meaningful cultural journey that will continue to inspire future generations for years to come.
